Maintenance Engineer

Salary: Dependent on experience

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for engaging and assisting in maintenance activities as required, ensuring that the highest standards of Health & Safety, professionalism and best practice are deployed always.
Specifically, you would be responsible for:
• Observing a safe system of work for all maintenance activities. (e.g. tagging-out and cordoning off where applicable)
• Complying to, and ensuring that Health and Safety legislation and guidelines are employed during all on-site maintenance activities
• Ensuring compliance to environmental regulations / policy. Reporting and correcting anomalies as required
• Undertaking mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks in line with your experience and qualifications as directed
• Assisting in the internal transportation of plant and equipment to facilitate shop floor layout improvements
• Assisting in the general maintenance of the buildings in line with your experience and qualifications as directed
• Engaging in TPM and routine preventative maintenance activities as required. Undertaking the training of operatives where applicable
• Providing technical support / expertise / assistance to fellow maintenance personnel as required, ensuring consistent high-quality workmanship for maintenance activities
• Providing out-of-hours emergency breakdown cover when applicable
• Continually striving to improve the quality of the maintenance operation through proactive implementation of best practise techniques
• Communicating any relevant maintenance issues to the Maintenance Supervisor to ensure adequate flow of information
• Assisting in the management of sub-contract personnel ensuring compliance with company security policy, Health & Safety procedures and insurance / method statements
• Undertaking training to acquire new skills / qualifications as deemed necessary
• Maintaining the highest standards of housekeeping, adopting 5S methodology
• Advising on process risk assessments as required

Supported by excellent working communication skills, the Maintenance Engineer should be:
• Apprentice trained in electrical, mechanical and fitting skills
• Able to work unsupervised and at own discretion
• Trained in safety at work; knowledge of PPE and lock out systems of work

Where possible, you should also have:
• FLT and / or MEWP license
• HNC / HND qualification
• Working knowledge of CNC machines
• Previous experience of working within a maintenance departments or busy manufacturing environment
• Suitable computer literacy
